Expectations for Fifth Grade
There are a lot of differences in fifth grade in comparison to fourth and third grades. One of those is the amount of AR points students must get each quarter. In fifth grade, students must get 15 AR points each quarter. --Reminder: AR points are worth 20% of each student’s reading grade-- Also, for the end of the year pizza party, students must achieve 75 AR points to attend.
Another difference in fifth grade is the schedule. In previous grades at Wenz, students would eat lunch first then have recess. It is opposite in fifth grade. Students will have recess from 11:45 to 12:05 and then lunch afterwards from 12:05 to 12:30.
A final difference in fifth grade would be expectations. Fifth graders must get ready to go to junior high at Mayo the following year, so we teachers want to make sure our students are prepared for the new transition. Thus, fifth graders will have certain expectations to follow. See the chart below.
